Yesterday, Open AI released another research article, this time addressing Super intelligence. Sam Altman and company address the fact that AI has the “potential” lol, to outperform humans and the largest corporations in the next decade. Here are the three main takeaways.

Supervision: Altman strongly believes that a new government agency needs to be assembled, similar to the agency that was created in regards to atomic energy (IAEA)

  • Supervision: Altman strongly believes that a new government agency needs to be assembled, similar to the agency that was created in regards to atomic energy (IAEA)

  • Coordination: It was also suggested that all big time AI developments should be coordinated through a “global project” to maintain security and social integration. Or alternatively, create a yearly cap to which AI can develop, so growth is linear as opposed to the exponential increase now.

  • Safety: Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, and Ilya Stuskever authors of the article, emphasized the need to research and develop the technical means to ensure super intelligence safety.

If you have time, I strongly encourage you to read the full research article, which you can find here.

This is actually scary. Yesterday, a manipulated image falsely depicting an explosion near the Pentagon spread rapidly on Twitter. It was shared between a few verified accounts and blew up even causing the S&P 500 to tank.

The news of this explosion even reached Russia’s official propaganda outlet with them tweeting “reports of an explosion near the Pentagon.”

This is the first spook of its kind I pray we don’t see more like this in the future.

Meta has developed AI models capable of recognizing and producing speech for over 1,000 languages, a 10x increase on existing capabilities. There’s around 7,000 known languages in the world.

The model is now available on Github and shows great potential for preserving languages on the brink of extinction. They were able to accomplish this by retraining an AI model on the New Testament of the Bible. Incredible.

Daily Definition

Super Intelligence

"Super Intelligence" is the term given to a future class of artificial intelligence that surpasses human intellect in every significant aspect. It's not merely about being quicker in computations or having vast information at disposal, but it refers to a level of AI that can out-think us in creativity, problem-solving, and even understanding social or emotional nuances.

However, don't let the term intimidate you. We're not in an era of super intelligent AI just yet, but the concept holds a fascinating position in the landscape of AI possibilities and theoretical discussions. Understanding this term helps us to imagine the potential future trajectory of AI and its implications in our world.
