Notebooks that talk? Google says Yes!🤯

In partnership with

Hi AI Futurists,

Today, we explore one of Google's NotebookLM's latest features, allowing you to turn your notes and research into a podcast with two different, nearly human-like hosts.

The feature is designed to help distill information into an easy-to-understand audio format and having only been out for a week, it's very impressive. Trust us, you'll definitely want to give it a try.

Google's latest upgrade to NotebookLM, powered by Gemini 1.5 Pro, introduces a fascinating feature: Audio Overview. This tool allows users to upload notes and generate dynamic, podcast-style discussions between AI hosts based on the content. Unlike traditional text-to-speech programs, these discussions are conversational and designed to summarize material and highlight key connections.

Google acknowledges that Audio Overview isn’t meant to be fully relied on for comprehensive insights, as errors may occur but users are encouraged to use this tool as a supplement to their understanding of complex topics rather than a primary resource.

This AI-driven approach to note-taking and learning is a step toward how we might interact with our data in the future—more conversational, accessible, and dynamic. Tools like this could redefine productivity by transforming mundane notes into engaging discussions, making it easier to digest large amounts of information.

Important Points:

  • NotebookLM with Gemini 1.5 Pro adds AI-generated audio discussions.

  • Audio Overview creates podcast-style summaries of uploaded notes.

  • The feature may introduce inaccuracies and only supports English.

  • It’s a supplement to learning, not a sole source of truth, but you can upload up to 50 pieces of data.

What We Think About It:

Google’s move to make note-taking more dynamic is exciting. Having tried the audio feature with a few different pieces of content, the conversations are nothing short of impressive. Of course, some minor bugs remain, and the audio isn’t perfect. But, Audio Overview could be especially valuable for those dealing with large volumes of text.

We’re incredibly excited to see how this continues to evolve, given it’s only been live and in the wild for less than a few weeks.
