🚨 Breaking AI News
Yesterday, Microsoft announced they are creating an AI Skills Initiative that includes a global funding challenge, free online courses, and a teacher training toolbox.
The AI Skills Initiative includes the first-ever Professional Certificate on Generative AI in Online Learning and a Generative AI Skills Grant Challenge to aid institutions that leverage generative AI for societal and economic benefit.
This is a great move by them to bring free education into a space that is so new for most people. You can learn more and apply here.
Open AI is bringing even more use cases to their customers. The ChatGPT app on iOS now allows ChatGPT Plus users to access up-to-date web information through Microsoft's Bing.
The free version of ChatGPT has an information cutoff date of September 2021, so any events after that, ChatGPT has no knowledge of. To become a ChatGPT Plus member, it costs $20 a month (worth it). You can subscribe here.
To enable browsing, go to your settings and activate the Browsing option under the "New Features" section. Then, select GPT-4 from the model switcher and choose "Browse with Bing" from the dropdown menu.

Supervised Learning
Supervised learning is a type of machine learning where an AI model is trained on labeled data. Think of it like learning with a teacher (hence, 'supervised'). The teacher, in this case, is a dataset where the 'correct answers' are already known.
For example, if we were training a model to identify images of cats, we would provide it with many images where each cat image is labeled 'cat' and each image without a cat is labeled 'not cat'. The AI model learns from this data and builds a mathematical model to make predictions when it encounters new, unseen data.
One key thing to note is that the quality and quantity of your training data can greatly affect the performance of a supervised learning model. The more high-quality examples it has to learn from, the better it can generalize to new situations.
