How AI is Impacting the World
Microsoft Copilot Enables Custom AI Workflows
Microsoft is rolling out its autonomous Copilot agents, previously in closed beta, to public preview through Copilot Studio next month. This platform allows businesses—especially smaller ones—to create customized AI agents that automate routine operations. The agents integrate with the Microsoft 365 Graph and tools like Dynamics 365, performing tasks such as handling IT tickets, automating employee onboarding, and managing customer relations. For example, Copilot can respond to emails by retrieving sender details, reviewing communication history, and generating appropriate replies.
Microsoft claims that 60% of Fortune 500 companies are already utilizing Copilot solutions, including major players like Honeywell, McKinsey, and Thomson Reuters. The tool has already delivered measurable benefits, such as a 9.4% revenue increase per employee for a Microsoft sales team and 12% faster response times in customer service. Companies like Pets at Home are using Copilot agents to detect fraud, illustrating the platform’s diverse use cases. Additionally, Microsoft provides pre-built agents within Dynamics 365, handling tasks like sales analysis, supplier communications, and customer engagement.
Microsoft assures businesses that Copilot agents meet strict data security and compliance standards. Starting at €28.10 per user monthly for the basic Microsoft 365 Copilot suite, businesses can also develop custom multi-channel agents with an advanced subscription of €187.20. This move underscores Microsoft’s ambition to revolutionize business processes with AI-powered tools, hinting at a future where automation handles more administrative tasks and allows humans to focus on higher-value work.
