On Tuesday, Sanctuary AI revealed Phoenix, an advanced humanoid robot. You have to check out the demo. It’s scary how these robots have progressed.

Phoenix is controlled by Carbon, an AI-powered control system that gives Phoenix human-like intelligence and movements. Phoenix kind of reminds me of Atom from Real Steel. Iykyk

Phoenix stands at 5'7", weighs 155 pounds, and has a top speed of 3 mph. He uses advances in natural language processing to translate them into action in the real world. It can think and complete tasks as a human would. Sanctuary AI is no stranger to big projects, as they have received over $100 million in funding, it has been put to good use.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI and Chat GPT, called for AI regulation during a Senate subcommittee hearing on Tuesday. This just adds to the long list of tech leaders stressing the potential dangers of AI.

“Artificial intelligence has to potential to improve nearly every aspect of our lives, but it also creates serious risk that we have to work together to manage.”

Sam Altman

He wants a loose framework to manage the rapid development, he suggested creating an agency to oversee the space. It is unclear how lawmakers will address this ever-growing issue, but there will be regulation. Elon Musk said today that “AI is a double-edged sword,” I believe him.

Apple previewed new accessibility features coming soon to iPhone users.

  1. Live Speech: This feature allows users who are nonspeaking, have diverse speech patterns, or have disabilities to type what they want to say and have it spoken aloud by the device.

  2. Personal Voice: This feature enables users at risk of speech loss to create a voice that sounds like them to read aloud their typed out sentences.

  3. Point and Speak: This feature is an enhancement to the iPhone's Magnifier app, it lets users with vision disabilities point at objects with text labels to have the device read the text aloud.

  4. Assistive Access: This feature is designed for people with cognitive disabilities, it has a more focused device interface with large text labels and high-contrast buttons to lighten the load on the brain.

These are incredible additions to Apple’s already incredible accessibility tools. Make sure to give a heads up to anyone you know who can benefit from these new tools!
