Hi AI Futurists,

With Vids, Workspace users can create polished video content using their own footage or by pulling from Google Drive, while AI helps script, edit, and enhance. How AI is Impacting the World
Google’s new AI-powered video creation
Google has launched a video creation tool called Vids within its Workspace suite, offering businesses a streamlined way to develop multimedia content from their existing assets. Rather than generating video from scratch, Vids helps users assemble footage, add transitions, and clean up audio, leveraging Google’s Gemini model to assist with scriptwriting and flow between scenes. It allows users to upload their own media or pull from Google Drive and provides multiple recording options, from selfie videos to screen captures with narration. Users can also tap into a library of rights-cleared content, add AI-generated background music and voiceovers, and choose from a variety of templates to quickly build out presentations.
This new tool positions itself as a versatile resource for various teams across an organization. Support teams can create instructional videos, executives can share updates, marketing teams can build reports, HR can develop training, and project managers can update teams. Initial rollout of Vids is limited to Workspace customers, with AI features like the "Help me create" assistant available only in English for now. It’s compatible with Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, though some features may not work in other browsers.
The release of Vids hints at a larger AI video strategy, as Google is also testing "Veo," a generative video model designed to produce longer videos that’s being piloted in YouTube Shorts. Together, these tools underline Google’s commitment to making video content creation more accessible and collaborative, potentially transforming how companies communicate and engage through multimedia.
