🚨 Breaking AI News

A few Hours ago, Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer revealed a "grand strategy" for AI regulation in the US. Here is what it could mean for the future of AI legislation.

  • Protection of Innovation: Schumer stressed innovation as the "north star" of U.S. AI strategy, indicating that lawmakers will work closely with tech CEOs in drafting regulation, potentially responding to EU regulations that critics claim hinder innovation.

  • Section 230 Debate: The debate over Section 230 reform, "The law that shields tech companies from being sued over user-generated content," is getting bigger in AI. Whether tech companies should be held accountable for AI-generated content is a big question that could have a significant impact on the AI landscape.

  • Democratic Values: Both Schumer and President Biden emphasize that AI must align with democratic values. This is the US confirming their narrative opposite China's, which thinks that "outputs of generative AI must reflect communist values."

A group of 19 Chinese computer processor researchers developed an AI model that can design a complete CPU in under five hours! This is over 1000x faster than any human.

To put this into perspective, Intel, one of the leading CPU companies, takes four full years to build a new CPU. However, This advancement is in the very early stages, as its processing speed is currently slower than the latest human-made CPUs.

I believe it is only a matter of time until researchers can build CPU’s that surpass the current standard. This will completely disrupt the current balance in the tech industry. A wise man once said, “Perfectly balanced, as all things should be…” Then AI enters the room 😂

Chat GPT Prompt: Convert Python into easy to understand text

For anyone looking to get into development, this example prompt will help you with the steep learning curve at the beginning of your journey.

Using ChatGPT to break down code in natural language is a great way to learn.

🔏 Copy and paste the prompt below ⏬
Explain this python code in natural human language:

Example Code snippet:

# Python 3
def remove_common_prefix(x, prefix, ws_prefix):
x["completion"] = x["completion"].str[len(prefix) :] if ws_prefix:
# keep the single whitespace as prefix
x["completion"] = " " + x["completion"] return x

Daily Definition

Artificial Neural Networks

'Artificial Neural Networks' (ANNs) are computing systems inspired by the human brain's biological neural networks. They are designed to replicate how a human brain works, learning from experience. Just like our brains have neurons, ANNs have artificial 'neurons' or 'nodes.'

Think of these networks as a team where each member (node) has a specific role. Information is input, and each team member works on a tiny part of the problem. Then they pass their results to the next layer of team members. This process continues until the final layer, which presents the output.

An example of ANN usage is in handwriting recognition, like reading ZIP codes on mail. The ANN is trained with a large number of examples, and it learns to identify patterns in the way numbers are written. So, when a new, unseen ZIP code is presented, the network can correctly read it based on its past learning.
